Palau Robert presents the travelling exhibition, ‘Dalí, Breaking News’, which highlights Dalí’s high media profile through around forty images of the painter from the EFE News Agency. The exhibition is open in Room 1 from 16 June to 15 October 2017.
"Dalí, Breaking News" underscores the artist’s innate ability to make himself the focus of media attention, his international presence, the passions he aroused and his relationships with well-known personalities. As well as the photos, taken by various photographers, the exhibition features an interview with the artist on the A fondo programme on TVE, the Spanish public television channel, which was broadcast on 27 November 1977. The information and quotes from Salvador Dalí featured in the exhibition were taken from this interview.
The exhibition, organised jointly by Girona Provincial Council, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and the Spanish news agency Agencia EFE, and sponsored by Abertis, commemorates three anniversaries simultaneously: 40 years since the opening of the Dalí Museum in Figueres; 25 years since the artist’s death; and the 75th anniversary of Agencia EFE.
The photographs in the exhibition are divided into six areas that could easily represent the sections of a daily newspaper: Science; Culture; International; Media; Politics and Society.
